Hunger-A global Issue

What is a hungry person???

A hungry person is someone who doesn,t get enough to eat every day and is malnourished. Malnourished means that you are weak and have no energy to do simple things like walking. A malnourished person finds it hard to concentrate and studying drains alll their energy. The average person need atleast 1800 calories a day when someone doesn’t get those calories they are likely to be suffering from Chronic hunger. Their body begins to feed on itself starting with fat, then muscle tissue and finally organs. Death is almost certain when their body gets to the organ stage but lots of starving people die from hunger-related diseases since their body is weak to fight it the body shuts down.

  • 925 million people do not have enough to eat – more than the combined populations of USA, Canada and the European Union; Here is a graph of where the most hungry are in 2010 ( it meansmillion by the way like, 19 million and 239 million)

  • 98 percent of the world’s hungry live in developing countries; (Source: FAO news release, 2010)
  • Asia and the Pacific region is home to over half the world’s population and nearly two thirds of the world’s hungry people; (Source: FAO news release, 2010)
  • Women make up a little over half of the world’s population, but they account for over 60 percent of the world’s hungry. (Source: Strengthening efforts to eradicate hunger…, ECOSOC, 2007)
  • 65 percent of the world’s hungry live in only seven countries: India, China, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan and Ethiopia. (Source: FAO news release, 2010)

Story Starter!

For blogging challenge 4 I could write a story starter for my readers to carry on. So I am going to give you a story starter from my long list and you (my readers) can leave a comment carrying on the story. Remember to read all the comments before you decide what to write! Okay here it is:

The sudden screech of ripping metal, fused with the harsh thundering of the typhoon created and ear-splitting bellow that made my head throb with pain.

Happy Writing!
